It's Baseball Time and I'm All Jazzed Up

Oh man! I just walked out of the Tokyo Dome woke up at 8am and caught the last several innings of the First Baseball Game of 2012 on mlb.com's game day, and I'm even more excited about baseball than I thought I would be. Here's why:

- This is probably the only time all year 'm going to care about the Mariners and the As. Sometimes I don't know who I'm going to cheer for in a (non-Jays) game until I start watching, and today I immediately started cheering for the Mariners. I actually thought to myself, 'Maybe I'll just cheer for the Mariners all year!' This is a good entry point to baseball this year, otherwise the excitement curve heading into the Jays' opening day next Thursday would be too steep, and I'd flip over on my back like a turtle trying to climb a wall.

- I couldn't get the game on tv, or even mlb.tv, because I am very not making money at the moment. But mlb.tv did give me a "look-in" and those folks in Tokyo are amped. Also, my mind subconsciously changed reality so that most of the fans in the Tokyo Dome were wearing kimonos or school uniforms. Especially that lady who caught Dustin Ackley's home run.

I should point out that this photo may be misleading. None of the people in this photo are Dustin Ackley. Not even the tall guy in the tie with no head.

- Ichiro went 4 for 5! In the place where he's from. Classic.

- The first rule of Fantasy Baseball is don't talk about your Fantasy Baseball team because people will be bored. But I just want to point out that the best day in the Fantasy Baseball season is the first day, when only one game is being played and you have only one of your players playing, who has an awesome day, and for one day you are winning your fantasy league, mostly because the other people didn't have anyone on the As or Mariners (with good reason). Thanks Dustin Ackley!!

- It's also fun to look at the standings after one game and think 'Wow, those pre-season pundits had it wrong. Most of these teams haven't won a game yet. Mariners World Series.'

- Extra Innings!! You guys, Extra Innings is hands down my favourite thing in baseball. Sometimes I cheer for a team not to score in extra innings just so there will be more extra innings. Because theoretically, a game could go on forever. There's no shootouts in baseball. Extra Innings!! They couldn't decide in nine!!

- Also fun to see the Fancave 9 tweeting during the game and to live vicariously through them. Great job so far, ladies and gents! I know all of you personally!

- You guys I'm so wound up right now! I can't wait till tomorrow!

- You guys don't forget about our podcast Season Kickoff Super Show April 1st. And if you are in not the United States and not on a mobile device, here is a gemstone of a video to get you amped for THAT:
